The website at www.musik-schmidt.de is an offer from Musik Schmidt – Branch office of s-music GmbH & Co. KG. Protecting your privacy and data is very important to us. For this reason our data protection practices are in compliance with data protection laws and regulations. We also employ every effort to treat your data confidentially.
It is important for us to inform you about the type of personal information we collect about you and how we intend to use said information. Please take some time to read the following information.
1. What is personally identifiable information?
Personally identifiable information are all data that can be used to reveal your identity. Personally identifiable information includes e.g. names, addresses, IP addresses, telephone numbers, or email addresses. Non-personally identifiable information, on the other hand, is not directly associated with your identity (e.g. number of website users, favourite websites).
2. Why do we collect personal information?
We collect personal information from you to maintain and intensify our business relationship by providing convenient access to our products and services. We also want to offer the greatest possible convenience to you while processing your order (purchase order, delivery, payment etc.).
Furthermore, your data will be rendered anonymous to enhance and continually improve your online experience in our web shop. For this purpose and with the intention to present especially interesting offers to you we gather data in the web shop which we use to personalize your profile. This allows us, in particular, to track the pages you accessed while visiting our web shop.
We also use your data to offer different payment options and, not least, to assess your credit worthiness to protect you and us against misuse. Information obtained in this manner protects us against damage that would impact our prices in the long run and is thus ultimately also beneficial for you as our customer.
3. Which type of information do we collect, process and use?
If you are visiting our website without registering or logging in as a customer, we will only place a session ID cookie (see Section 4 for more details) on your computer and collect standard information only, such as your IP address, time and duration of your visit, page views, language selection, browser type and your country of origin.
If you log into our web shop as a customer we also collect the information you provide when entering your data into the log-in box, i.e. your name, address, email-address and telephone number. When you place an order we also collect details about the payment method you selected and information associated with the order. We then place additional encrypted cookies containing your customer ID and your name.
When you make an order we save your order information to the order history and send these data to the email address you provided. Provided you are registered as a customer you may access your order information under “My Account”.
4. What are cookies?
Cookies are small files that a web server (www.musik-schmidt.de) transfers and saves to the computer’s hard drive by using a web browser. They are used to exchange information. Placing cookies on you computer enables us, for instance, to display a personalized welcome message the next time you visit our web site and to tailor the content to your needs and interests.
Cookies do not store any security-related or personally identifiable data. They cannot transfer viruses, Trojan horses or dialers, or send emails from your computer without you noticing it. Also, a web browser can only read cookies that have been placed by this specific browser.
If your browser settings support cookies we will place a cookie to verify whether cookies are accepted and then place a so-called session ID cookie. A session ID cookie is a session cookie that is only valid until the session ends, i.e. until the web browser is closed. Expired cookies are automatically deleted.
5. How do we collect, use and process your data?
Data minimization and data avoidance are the highest priority for us. For this reason we collect, use and process only such data that are absolutely necessary for order processing, communicating with you and for maintaining our business relationship with you. Such data include, in particular, data which we are obliged to process and retain for accounting and bookkeeping purposes due to statutory requirements.
We store your personally identifiable data only if you provided them when logging into our web site as a customer. We will save these data with your consent as your personal profile which will allow you to log in with you user name and password any time you return to our web site. This is for your convenience as you will not need to re-enter your contact information each time you place an order.
You may object to the use of said data (see Section 8 for more information). In such case we will delete your personally identifiable data that we hold. In such case, however, you will need to re-enter all your data for every order.
6. With whom do we share your data?
As a general rule, we do not disclose your personally identifiable data to third parties. We share such data in exceptional cases only. Sharing such information, however, is limited to service providers and/or business partners (”Partners“) providing assistance to us when we process orders and offer information to customers. These partners, however, may use your data only for performing the tasks we entrusted to them and have been instructed to strictly comply with data protection laws and regulations. Sharing your personal information is also limited to cases where the purchase price is to be financed through a loan. We cooperate with Santander Consumer Bank AG in such cases and will disclose your name, address, the item to be purchased and the purchase price to Santander Consumer Bank AG.
Please note that in some instances we may be obliged by law to disclose your personal data. We may also disclose information about you if it is in the public interest (e.g. in the case of credit card fraud).
7. How do we protect your data?
As a general rule, we use a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol (256 bit) for data transfer between your computer and our server for your order transaction so as to collect and manage your personal information as securely as possible. This method allows encrypted data transfer. Your personally identifiable information is stored in compliance with national law only. To the extent that we share data with our Partners during transactions as described under Section 6, said Partners shall be bound by our contractual provisions pertaining to data privacy in addition to mandatory statutory provisions.
8. Your rights
Pursuant to the provisions of the German Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz) you may request, free of charge, information on any personal data which we may hold about you. You also have to right to correct, delete and/or block the data we hold about you.
