The Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-III VS includes even more technology than its predecessor, the Ultra-II, and still keeps the traditional design and sound of a classic Les Paul. First off, the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-III VS employs two pickup systems: On neck and bridge there are two Epiphone ProBuckers, which create an airy rock and roll tone. A Shadow NanoMag is installed discretely into the end of the fingerboard. This pickup has a very low impedance thus transmitting all those subtle vibrations of body and strings of the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-III VS. Thus the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-III VS covers a great spectrum of sound, ranging from crunchy rock to shimmering acoustic sounds. Since one of the volume control knobs is an A/B switch at the same time, you are able to toggle the pickup systems or mix them together. Moreover, the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-III VS features a mono and a stereo output: assuming that you have only one cable connected to the guitar into the mono channel, the signals of the humbuckers and the NanoMag are commingled. If you plug a second cable into the stereo output of the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-III VS, the signals are transmitted seperately from each other. By doing so, you forward the humbucker signals to your favourite amp and the NanoMag signals to a PA system or an acoustic guitar amp.
