The Royer Labs R-101 is a high-quality ribbon microphone which is considered to be the successor of the very popular R-121. This passive mono microphone with its integrated wind screen and converter was designed to minimize disturbance caused by airstreams, plosive sounds and pushes or vibrations. The R-101 can even cope with close-miking. Therefore this mic is perefect for stage and studio. It offers an agreeable sound which is able to give some warmth even to digital recordings. The Royer Labs R-101 is the best choice for recording guitars, basses and drums. Due to its eight polar pattern you may even use it to record surround sound.
