The Taylor DN8 is a steel string guitar and has a dreadnought body, whose back and sides consist of Indian rosewood and are fitted with a top made of sitka spruce. These selected woods play their part in the wonderful sound of the Taylor DN8, which primarily focusses on thundering basses and well balanced mids. All woods used for the Taylor DN8's body are solid woods. The ebony fingerboard on the mahogany neck counts a total of 20 frets, which are marked with dot inlays.
